Introduction

The 2nd AEARU Environmental Workshop is one of AEARU workshops to address the challenges and opportunities for leading research-oriented universities in the East Asian region. The purpose of the Workshop is to enhance the dialogue among the members of AEARU from various disciplines with the state-of-the-art technologies and the future possibilities. This interdisciplinary dialogue is essential for the development of solutions for environmental problems. It will be held at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) during August 19~20, 2004.

Objective

The environment presents challenging problems for policy makers, scientists and engineers worldwide. Good and through understanding of the various issues and topics related to this problem is essential to the provision of solutions. The workshop is designed to provide a forum for the members of AEARU to meet and to exchange information on emerging ideas, on new policies and practices and on recent research findings. The emergent nature of the workshop topics will initiate much discussion.

Abstracts of Papers

Instructions

1.Abstracts should be camera-ready and limited to two pages (A4 paper with margins ¾ top, bottom & right: 25 mm; left: 32 mm).
2.On top of the first page, please state title of the paper, and followed by author(s), name and address of institution/affiliation, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address. All should be centered.
3.All text, diagrams and photographs should be black and white.
4.Text font should be Times New Roman 12 pt or the nearest available equivalent.
5.The list of references should be given in alphabetical order with the author’s surname first, followed by the year of publication, the title of paper, the title volume of the journal and pages (e.g., Chan, C. and Wong, M. 1999. Title of paper. Name of Journal (8)5: 111-122.).
6.All abstracts and papers should be in English.

Submission

Please submit your abstracts together with the “Abstract Submission Form”, which can be downloaded from website: http://see.postech.ac.kr, to the Secretariat (see below for contact details)
a)by e-mail attachment in MS Word
b)by mail (both hard copy and soft copy, in MS Word) on or before May 31, 2004. Acceptance notification will be sent out on June 20, 2004. Abstracts of papers accepted for presentation will be viewed at website.
