Study of Photoelectrocatalysis Processes at Nanostructured TiO2 Photoanode

Illuminated TiO2 possesses a number of useful properties that can be used for a range of applications. As a photocatalyst, TiO2 can be utilised via a photocatalysis process or a photoelectrocatalysis process. Theoretically, photocatalysis and photoelectrocatalysis processes are both essentially a redox process for which the electron transfer is an inherent property. This presentation discusses the development of a series of photoelectrochemical characterisation methods for studying TiO2 photoelectrocatalytic processes, particularly, the interfacial electron transfer kinetics, surface adsorption constant and electron transport inside TiO2 photocatalysts. These methods were developed based on the inherent electron transfer properties of TiO2 photocatalysis process.
