본 연구실은 환경과학수사로 ‘누가, 언제, 무엇이, 어디에 있는’ 오염물질인지 밝혀내는 연구를 수행 중임. 오염물질 고유의 안정동위원소를 분석해 국내부터 극지까지, 생태계 모든 환경 매체에서 수은과 중금속 노출을 추적함. 과거부터 미래까지의 전지구적 오염 변동 연구는 국제 환경협약과 국가 환경정책의 기초 자료로 활용되고 있음.
